Karen Tan Wei Ni 

 

 

Karen Tan Wei Ni serves the school as a Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM®) and Piano teacher. A lifelong lover of music, Karen began her piano journey at an early age. She has achieved remarkable milestones, including a Trinity Grade 8 certification in piano, an ABRSM Grade 8 in music theory, and degrees from Universiti Malaya, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Music (Dean’s Award) and a Master of Performing Arts in Music.

Karen's involvement in the music scene extends far beyond the classroom. She has actively participated in prestigious events such as the Universiti Malaya Symphony Orchestra (UMSO), Music Showcase University of Malaya, the University of Malaya Choir, and the MCE National Virtual Choir and Vocal Festival Competition, showcasing her commitment to musical excellence.

With a strong foundation in music education research, Karen is equally passionate about cultivating the next generation of musicians. Her notable research includes her Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis, which focus on critical aspects of music education. These include "Parental Involvement in Music Lessons: A Qualitative Study of Parents, Music Teachers, and Students in Kuala Lumpur" and "Early Childhood Student’s Intrinsic Motivation Based on Self-Determination Theory in Piano Practice in Klang Valley: Perspectives of Music Teachers."
