"My child has enjoyed the course very much and it has provided her a good foundation to pursue music at a higher level.... It was a big surprise that that she has achieved a distinction in the ABRSM grade 1 when she was only 51/2 yrs old... I am impressed by the MIM® course syllabus."

Jacinda Pang, mother of Perle Chen. (Perle has just completed her Grade 3 in 2005 at age 6 with a Distinction)

"The activities are fun and creative, it helps expose the child to music, sound and rhythm. The course taps the curiosity of the child, involve each child in exploring and help discover their inner strength."

Yin Yin, mother of Brian Yee.

" The games and activities they play so often have helped her in other ways. Natalie's mathematical skills are pretty strong. Most kids her age are still doing simple additions but she can subtract and do multiplication too."

Rachel Choi, mother of Natalie Choi. (Natalie has just competed her Grade 1 in 2005 at age 5 with a Distinction)

Do you want to help your children to achieve their greatest potential through music learning? And also to equip them with the ability of speed reading, photographic memory, music dictation, music mapping and analysis? If so, read on...

How music learning can help your child to achieve his
greatest potential in life?

Dear Parents,

Every child is unique. So is yours.

Since birth, every child has the potential to achieve many great things in life. There is a sleeping genius in every one of them. It is the duty of parents and caregivers to awake this genius in the child -  to help them achieve their highest potential in life and be the best they can possibly be.

Researchers and scientists have been working hard to find out what are some of the methods to bring out the best in human potential. And they found that music is one of the best ways to do so.

Many educators and parents know the positive impact music has on other aspects of the child’s life. These educators and parents will tell you, and numerous researches until today have shown, that musical involvement improves a child's:

-  self-discipline,
-  dexterity,
-  coordination,
-  self-esteem,
-  thinking skills,
-  listening skills,
-  creative abilities,
-  personal expression and even
-  math and science subjects in school

Music has a positive impact on human beings - to our learning processes, brain development, organization and the refinement of our entire neurological system.

According to Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner, music intelligence is equal in importance to logical-mathematical, linguistic, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence.

Here at Seimpi School of Music, we aim to provide a holistic music education by engaging the multi-sensory experiences and using brain-based concepts to ensure fun and enjoyment in the midst of high quality music training.

In Seimpi, we teach and train children in:

-  Memory Skill
-  Sight / Skim ( Speed) Reading
-  Auditory Perceptual Skill
-  Music Mapping
-  Strong Rhythmic Sense
-  Good Ear
-  Analytical Skill
-  Physical Coordination
-  Creativity / Spontaneity
-  Focus / Confidence

We train children as young as 12 months old right up to adults. Our program for the young, Music for the Intelligent MindTM (MIM®) , is set up specially to introduce formal music training at an early age through interesting play, ensemble and innovative musical games.

We sincerely feel that early, positive musical experience is uniquely important for children. Musical activities provide children with important experiences that can help them develop

-  physical coordination,
-  timing,
-  memory,
-  visual,
-  aural and
-  language skills.

When the children work to increase their command of music and exercise musical skills in the company of others, they gain important experience with self-paced learning, mental concentration and a heightened personal and social awareness.

The uniqueness of MIM® is that we place equal emphasis on both eye training and speed reading and on ear training.  Like mastering a language, you need to know how to speak as well as to read the words. Otherwise, playing music without the ability to read will not build a good foundation for future learning.

You need to "hear what you see and see what you hear"  (quoted from the famous music educator of the last century, Zoltan Kodaly). Children under six years old have a great ability to undergo both eye and ear training. In our course we try to catch these golden years of fast paced learning in a child.

Understanding of good posture and techniques of playing an instrument is also important from an early age. Parents must make sure their children learn to play the instrument (e.g. violin) and not just learn to play the tune. Bad habits are hard to remedy in the later years.

Also, our MIM® programs will prepare the child for the ABRSM graded system, which is world wide recognized and most Singaporean music students will take when they sit for their music exams. This will prevent children from having to switch systems or change their mindset or having to relearn everything again once they want to sit for the graded exams.

We welcome you to browse through our website to have a better understanding of our teaching concepts. And check out the  courses that we have to offer.
